    Caring for Your Custom Furniture

Investing in custom, handcrafted furniture means you have a piece designed to last for generations. However, proper care is essential to ensure your wooden pieces maintain their finish and structural integrity over the years.

First and foremost, control the environment. Wood is a natural, porous material that responds to changes in humidity and temperature. Keep your home's humidity levels consistent (ideally between 40-45%) to prevent the wood from warping, cracking, or splitting.

When it comes to cleaning, avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners. A soft, slightly damp cloth is usually all you need for daily dusting. For spills, wipe them up immediately to prevent moisture from seeping into the finish. Depending on the finish used on your piece, you may need to periodically reapply a protective wax or oil to keep the wood nourished and protected.
